De Warenne Pupils Talk Careers

Working with Children’s University, 14 pupils from DeWarenne Academy came to present to our children their careers aspirations and what they believe it will take for them to achieve their career goals.

The pupils explained to our children what lessons were important for their chosen career both during main stream education and if they decide to go into further education. What skills were needed and why they would like that type of job. This gave the children a lot to think about as there were loads of questions at the end of each discussion! Some of the job roles were Nursery Teacher, Photographer, Wildlife Veterinarian, being in the Army, a Midwife, a Lawyer and a Poet.

This session was a great way of introducing careers at the very beginning, when students are having to make their decisions on what subjects to study and why but it was extra special as it was told to our students by other students and this made a big impact.
