Computing

At Grange Lane computing is an essential part of the curriculum. Computing stands alone in the curriculum but is also interwoven across all subject areas.

Computing is increasingly a part of everyday life and we aim to equip our pupils with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in this area both in KS1 and EYFS.

Through using a variety of hardware and software pupils will be confident with technology and apply this to their experiences in the world around them.

By the time they leave Grange Lane, children will have gained key knowledge and skills in the three main areas of the computing curriculum: computer science (programming and understanding how digital systems work), information technology (using computer systems to store, retrieve and send information) and digital literacy (evaluating digital content and using technology safely and respectfully).

In computing British Values are an integral part of their learning; children will be aware of the rule of law in regards to cyber bullying, they will learn how to respect others viewpoints and beliefs and how to use the internet positively including social media. They will be thoughtful of leaving a positive digital footprint and how this can affect them in years to come.

Pupils at Grange Lane will be confident in using the internet safely and be aware of what to do if they encounter any material or content that is inappropriate.
