Sports for Champions

Thank to everyone for taking part in our Sports for Champions event and an even bigger thank you to those that raised sponsorship money. Money raised helps to support future Olympians and also helps to raise funds for the school.

Our Sports Champion was Martin Norris who is a wheelchair rugby player.

Martin gave an inspirational assembly where the children got to ask him lots of questions, some of which were:

When did you get a wheel chair? Martin got a normal wheelchair when he was 10 years old and a sports wheelchair when he was 19 years old.

How do you drive a car? Martin told the children that he has a car with hand controls that you pull to go and push to stop.

How do you move a wheelchair? The children had a demonstration of his normal and sports wheelchair and he said you push the wheels to go forward and push one wheel to turn.

How old were you when you started playing? Martin starting playing wheelchair rugby at 17 years old.

How many goals have you scored? This season Martin has scored about 24!

What is your favourite food? Martin told the children that he loves Pizza but has pasta when he is training.

The children then went outside with Martin to take part in an exercise circuit!
