"I noted how you and your early years team had worked successfully to develop the outdoor area for the youngest children to enhance skills and promote critical thinking. This means that children are able to practise and reinforce previous learning, so increasing their progress". (Ofsted July 2019)
This half term our topic has been ‘All About Me’. We have spent lots of time learning about each other and our teachers. We have:
- Drawn self portraits
- Talked about things we like and don’t like
- Drawn the people who live in our house
- Talked about our emotions and what makes us happy or sad
- Drawn a picture of what we want to be when we are older
- Talked about any pets we may have or would like to have
To fit in with talking about our pets, we had a visit from the Dogs Trust. They talked to us about how to look after dogs and also what to do around unfamiliar dogs.
In Maths we have been looking at numbers 1-10. We have been counting, ordering and writing numbers up to 10. We have also learnt the 2D shapes; circle, triangle, square and rectangle.
In Topic, we have learnt about the Harvest Festival and Autumn. We performed in our Harvest Festival Concert and went on some lovely Autumn walks where we collected lots of things such as leaves, acorns and twigs. We have also done baking for MacMillan.
We have spent lots of time this half term learning about our school Golden Rules as well as learning who we should talk to in school if we are worried about anything.
We have had a brilliant first half term and we can’t wait for the next one!
